Liat Hasenfratz

Senior Research Manager & Governance Lead

About

Liat Hasenfratz is a developmental psychologist and Senior Research Manager in the Hasson Lab. She helped build and lead Princeton’s First 1,000 Days project, where she developed the behavioral assessment program, built and led the project’s research operations, and developed its ethical framework for data collection. She now leads the development and operation of the project’s governance and data-access system.

Working with 1kD has led her to a broader set of questions: how do we govern research and data during periods of rapid technological change, and what kinds of practical governance tools can help institutions respond as new methods and forms of inference emerge? She is also interested in how these changes challenge existing approaches to research ethics. These questions now sit at the center of her work. Liat also served as Vice Chair of Princeton University’s Institutional Review Board and is the incoming Chair of its Clinical & Biomedical Research IRB panel.
