About
Brooke Ryan is a Ph.D. student in Psychology at Princeton, advised by Casey Lew-Williams and Uri Hasson. She is broadly interested in understanding how children develop within complex social systems, and how the dynamics of their family systems shape the regularities of their input for learning. She uses ultradense naturalistic recordings, behavioral coding, and computational methods to examine bidirectional relationships between children’s developing communicative abilities and family social interactions. She is especially excited to work on the First 1,000 Days project and build quantitative methods to understand how children’s learning both emerges from and helps shape the social world around them. Before coming to Princeton, Brooke earned a Master’s degree in Computer Science and spent several years working as a software engineer.
