Sebastian grew up in Germany and received his Ph.D. from the University of Birmingham, UK. His research focuses on resolving human episodic memory in time. Sebastian addresses how continuous, temporally dynamic content is neurally represented, and what mechanisms and computational principles support its encoding and retrieval. He further asks how the brain uses the high-level structure of experience for memory, and how fast-timescale memory processes are embedded in that structure.
